Andro Tomić is a native of Hvar who dedicated his life to wine. After twenty years of professional training at colleges, institutes and wineries in France and elsewhere, he decided to return to his island and produce his own wines.
Our cellar is located in a newly built winery on a family property in the bay of Mina in Jelsa, a place with a long viticulture and winemaking tradition. Today, we produce between 130,000 and 150,000 bottles a year and, in addition to the members of the Tomić family, we employ another twelve Hvarans.
Realizing that fewer and fewer people are engaged in viticulture on the island, we decided to plant our own vineyards, while we procure the rest of the grapes from our permanent subcontractors. Today, the winery owns around 10 ha of its own vineyards, mostly oriented towards organic production, because besides the production of healthy grapes and quality wine, it also ensures the preservation of the environment and human health.
We produce wines from different varieties, dominated by plavac mali as a black variety, and pošip and bogdanuša as white varieties.
TOP DRY RED WINE
Selected grapes come from prime positions for plavac mali, from poor, stony and calcareous soil on the southern slopes of Hvar. The ecological approach is imposed in these extreme conditions of steep, sunny vineyards - manual work, with minimal interventions in the vineyard and small yields (from 0.5 kg to 1 kg) of top quality grapes.
We offer you the intensity of colors and aromas, we guide you through the wine routes of Hvar. Wine tasting programs are available from April 15 to October 31.
Tour of the winery and cellar with a guided tasting of 6 wines with bread and olive oil. The estimated duration of the tasting is 1 hour.
Appointments are at 14:00 and 17:30, with prior checking of appointment availability with the winery directly.
Private tasting of all the wines on offer with an enriched snack in ancient Roman togas. The expected duration of the tasting is 2.5 hours, it is possible to book an appointment from 12:00 to 18:00 with prior checking of the availability of the appointment with the winery directly. Reservation 1 day in advance is necessary.
